(This entry imported from moozcat.com while some maintenance is performed there.)
When I set up Moozcat.com several years ago I had no idea what to do with it, I just liked the domain name.
Then, not long after, I got the idea to design websites as I learned flash. It went well for a little while.
Eventually I realized I am not cut out for the web design business, as the concepts are ever changing. Sure, I’ll design the occasional site from time to time for a friend as needed, but I doubt I’ll ever design a major site or make any money. It’s more of a hobby now. So, Moozcat.com isn’t really the business I thought it might turn in to.
In the meantime, I’ve had a wonderful cat enter my life, and then quite sadly and abruptly she left our world due to aggressive cancer. I was never a “cat person” until I had her. The name “Moozcat.com” came from my wife’s cat “Mooz.”
My late cat, Millie, now has a domain name of her own. It doesn’t have the same ring to it. But Millie will live on in blog posts, pics, videos, etc. The point of all this posting is partly to help me heal, but also to spread the word about adopting black cats.
So now, my blog isn’t as aimless. Opening eyes to black cat adoption is the aim right now.
Millie came to us as sort of a fluke, but boy what an impact she had.
Lianne noticed a couple freecycle posts from someone looking to find a home for Millie. She didn’t pay much attention to the first post, thinking someone would probably want this cute cat. Then the second post came. Apparently nobody wanted to open their home to this wonderful black cat. Was it because she was over 10 years old? Was it because she was black? Who knows?
Black cats are the hardest cats to find homes for. Some folks are too superstitious to want one. Some want tiger cats, or calico cats because they’re “more interesting” than a plain old black cat.
Look at the header pic. Does this cat look boring or plain?
When looking for a cat, consider a black cat, they have more love to give than you might expect.
