but it’s times like these that make it worth it!
Ok, this is part of the reason I wanted to start blogging. Too often black cats are tossed aside. Some consider black cats to be aesthetically boring, or even worse, bad luck. Nothing could be further from the truth. Watch this news clip and tell me these cats aren’t cute. If you still think that after watching this video, you have no soul. (ok, maybe I’m being a little dramatic)
Thankfully these kittens will be given proper care and then will be put up for adoption.
So it’s been 1 year since Millie passed away. They say time heals all wounds, and I do believe that is true. Sylvester also helps heal. It’s been great having him around, since I’ve developed quite a special bond with him already.
Another thing that helped me grieve when Millie left us was creating this memorial video. The song “Naive Melody” by The Talking Heads was a song that I always thought fit the relationship I had with her. So it was only natural that when she was gone I was left making the video to this song.
This video contains only a small portion of the fun moments that made Millie so special.
Enough from me, here’s the video:
We installed new bathroom faucets last weekend. It took Mr. Smarty Pants here less than a week to figure out how much FUN these faucets are! The matter is complicated by us taking away unlimited water in this house due to Rebel’s increasing senility issues. This included taking away the Drinkwell fountain. Apparently this has upset Sylvester. No worries! The sink is fun too!
WHAT to do about this??? Haven’t a clue. *sigh*
So, it’s no secret I think this guy is awesome. Well, we’re pretty sure he thinks he’s awesome too. Now we have photo evidence to prove it.

Now on to the awesome pics…
This is my first post in a while that didn’t completely revolve around pictures of Sylvester. I recently signed up for Sirius satellite radio. I signed up for all the music choices, but it’s nice because I can occasionally listen to talk radio if I want to.
The other day I started scrolling through the talk radio choices, and even though I’m not normally a Howard Stern listener, I landed there because of what I heard.
Howard’s wife Beth was on the show that morning talking about rescuing wildlife. Soon the conversation turned to their fund raising efforts with the North Shore Animal League. Beth and Howard created a 2012 calendar, with all proceeds going to the North Shore Animal League. They mentioned that their cats were in the calendar with Beth. As they talked about how they adopted their cats from the shelter, I began to wonder if any of their cats were black cats. Soon, Howard said that their cat Walter is a black cat. He then added the line that got me to buy the calendar:
“People won’t adopt black cats, because they’re superstitious, they’re assholes.”
Thanks Howard, I couldn’t have said it better myself. (ok, I might not have been so blunt)
